Equinox West Georgia
Located at 1131 West Georgia Street in Vancouver, this project is Equinox’s third club in Canada and 84th location globally. The 33,000SF club is designed to echo the Pacific Northwest environment, and features bleached walnut woods, concrete floors, and blackened metal to contrast natural and man-made materials. There are six different fitness studios, including yoga, cycling, barre, pilates, boxing, and group fitness, as well as cardio and weight lifting areas.
Consisting of many challenging and intricate details, the club features a self-supporting interconnected steel staircase, as well as floating concrete slabs for each studio. These slabs in combination with acoustic wall and ceiling systems isolate sound from adjacent spaces. They also allow each slab to flex depending on the activity and occupant load.
Novacom worked in close partnership with the owner based in New York, architect based in LA, and our trade partners to deliver the project in an accelerated schedule with multiple shifts, while accommodating ongoing design changes as we worked together to achieve Equinox’s vision for the space.
