Pablito is our host in Victoria, and his story is both moving and inspiring. He is a stout jovial man with jet black hair, a moustache, and a warm smile. He speaks with authority but never leaves you feeling judged.  He is purely in his heart a pastor, not in name only, but in his gifting as well.

Pablito took some time with us one evening to play his guitar and sing for us some Spanish love songs he used to play for his wife Rosita. After singing and laughing, he began talking about God, as naturally as he had just sung so fondly about his wife. God had carried Pablito through the loss of a son in a horrific car accident. He watched his son die, and yet he spoke of the grace of God.

It is this same grace that Pablito employs when serving the people of Victoria, El Salvador. Seven years ago, he and his family moved here to share God’s love. While they were not initially welcomed in a predominantly Catholic culture, he started an organization called Funde Familia (Family Foundation). His vision was that the church shouldn’t be a place that people have to come to, it should come to them. He decided that he would build his community by going to each of the surrounding villages and serving the needy. Instead of competing with the large Catholic church, he built relationships.

Today Pablito’s church community is 300 strong, and many more hundreds of families, widows and elderly people have homes and hope, leaving everyone to wonder about the grace and love that God has for the people of El Salvador.

The Novacom team has been blessed to play a small part in such a practical man’s faith.
