With the 12 homes completed, we set out to continue our quest to serve the people of Victoria. Half of the team headed into the nearby town of Sensuntepeque to purchase gift baskets for the new home owners, and half offered our time to the local pastor digging out a six foot deep hole for the foundation of his new home.

The day ended with a Canada vs. El Salvador soccer match and an American football game on the peak of the highest nearby mountain in an area called Ocotillo. As expected, we were schooled in the soccer match by the Salvadorians, as they ran circles around us! As we switched to “Futbol Americano”, the game ended in a tie as we rushed up to the top of the mountain to watch the sunset.

And an epic sunset it was! There’s something special about celebrating a week of hard work with a group of men who feel like brothers, and with 360 degree views of the valleys all around. Tomorrow we look forward to celebrating with the families at the key ceremony!
